Mission, vision and values
The Trustees define the policies which underpin the Charity’s activities and have agreed the following Mission Statement:
• To integrate and empower African migrants especially refugees and asylum seekers to overcome poverty and disadvantages and to promote sustainable development and poverty alleviation efforts in Africa.
• To promote social inclusion in London for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. For the purpose of this clause “socially excluded” means African migrants to the UK who are excluded from society, or parts of society, on the grounds of their ethnic origin, religion, belief or creed or due to social and economic disadvantage. • To promote sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa for the benefit of the public by: a) the preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources; (b) the relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities;(c) the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration. Sustainable development means “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Centre for Development and Community Welfare (CEDCOW) was established to contribute to lasting change in disadvantaged communities through the relief of poverty, health and the improvement of the conditions of lives.
CEDCOW works in close partnership with individuals, communities, NGOs, Government other institutions in Africa to develop and harness knowledge, skills and resources needed to achieve long -term change.
CEDCOW also believe that education, health and gender equality are the cornerstone for achieving sustainable change and transforming communities.
Our vision is to contribute to the well-being and progress of society by empowering communities and transforming lives
CEDCOW values are underpinned by believe that women are key actors in many development interventions, whose support and participation are cardinal for any meaningful change to be sustainable. Our approaches and strategies therefore give high considerations for the needs and wellbeing of women and also promote innovative and new technology that can easily bring about change such as mobile, digital or renewable sources
